Paving the way to a brighter tomorrow Indlela is a non-profit organization that oversees a number of sustainable social responsibility projects that are bound by a common thread: the desire to bring help and hope to the vulnerable, broken and impoverished in the North Durban community.
FAIRHAVENS BABIES’ HOMEFairhavens works closely with Durban Child Welfare to provide a safe home for abandoned babies until they can be placed into a secure family environment.
In every community there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart there is the power to do it. – Marianne Williamson
FEEDING PROGRAMMEIndlela’s feeding programme operates from two industrial kitchens which provide food for thousands of hungry children in schools and crèches in the Durban North and Amaoti communities every day.
LEARNING FOR LIFEIndlela’s learning for Life and HIV prevention programmes have proved effective in instilling a sense of self-worth and hope in vulnerable children. In order to help maximize their educational potential, homework and holiday clubs are offered as well as a literacy programme. On a practical level, work parties are arranged to assist with much-needed repairs and renovations to schools.
BRIGHT BEGINNINGSIndlela’s crèche development programme is aimed at helping to prepare young children in needy communities for a brighter future through improved nutrition, early childhood education and upgrading the physical environment
